How do you get a skunk to leave your yard?

We have four pets and four kids, and we've seen the skunk twice. It's huge and it's sprayed two of the pets.

How can we get it away from our land? We know it lives very close to the house.....How do you get a skunk to leave your yard?
The other suggestions are good ones. Also, put moth balls in the areas where you have seen the skunk before; practically all animals HATE the odor. Be sure not to leave any sort of food out that the skunks can get to; also be sure that trash can lids are on tight, and so on.

If all else fails, get a trap and capture them. If you're in a city, animal control will often do this for you. If you're in a rural area, you're pretty much on your own as to how to dispose of them. Most cities will simply shoot one that comes around people; in a rural area, you may have to do that for yourself.

Good luck! How do you get a skunk to leave your yard?
Stand by the door and bang some pots and pans. They don't like loud noises...they'd rather be someplace else!!
Get a cage and put some food in their and hopefully it will go in their and you can take it els where if it don't spray you first.

Good Luck
smith and weson always worked for me in 22 cal.
This is a product that contains scent of fox (i.e. skunk predator) and claims to work. It's about $15.
