How does can one little skunk cover such a large area with such a horrendous smell? How is it possible?

I'd like someone who really knows how its possible, to explain it to me please.How does can one little skunk cover such a large area with such a horrendous smell? How is it possible?
Natural defense. If we were that small we'd get some ingenius thing too.How does can one little skunk cover such a large area with such a horrendous smell? How is it possible?
Ever considered that the smell is really emanating from a couple square inches? The smell just spreads out because, among other factors, you could be especially sensitive to it, or it is just strong and that is what smells do, they emanate.
When frightened they're able to expel a powerful solution composed of several different kinds of decomposing proteins. Stuff smells so nasty it makes your eyes burn 50 feet away. Don't even want to think about what it's like to actually get sprayed by one.
Well, think about for instance when you fart. The ';fart'; molecules get in the air and coalesce with the surrounding gas to reach fluid equilibrium. have fun kiddos
';Muscles located next to the scent glands allow them to spray with high accuracy as far as 2 to 5 metres (7 to 15 ft).';
It has to do with the composition of the spray that a shunk produces. The compound mercaptans which is a chemical in the thiol group binds readily to skin proteins and therefore seem to travel with you. Because they have an open amine binding site you can bind it to an acid, tomato juice, and reduce the odor.
diffusion since its smell is a gas, it has a high concentration in one area, and high concentrations go to lower concentrations till they equal out. Its like the egg experiment you do in middle school
