Can i shoot a skunk in illinois right now?

I have a skunk running browsing around my backyard and its been a pain in the butt by spraying everything. I have a clear shot of it right now, i will be using a paintball marker to hit it in the head (i play tournement paintball so im dead accurate). I was wanting to know if its illegal to kill a skunk at this time.Can i shoot a skunk in illinois right now?
Skunks are legal to hunt year-round in Illinois. However, hunting game with a paintball gun is not legal. Also, you better be very careful killing a skunk. I'm not aware of skunks having a season anywhere in the country. I say go for it. If it's destroying your property, and it sounds like it clearly is, I'd ice it.

They normally don't spray their skunk scent unless threatened and usually they just posture as a threat.


Skunks can carry rabies and distemper so they are a threat to your dogs if you have any.


I would call animal control if it is an ongoing problem, if it is just for today..wait him out and them place some sponges soaked in vinegar around where it was scavenging in an effort to prevent him from coming back.


Besides, why hit it in the head? What would be the point? How about just scaring the little guy out of the backyard. He'll probably spray, but apparently you are saying that he is not acting normal and spraying anyway.
it is illegal to kill a skunk, unless it is causing trouble, you can trap it, but you need to call the conservation dept for Ill.
